Madison county is one of the premier recreation areas in Alabama for outdoor enthusiests that enjoy hiking, mountain biking, family greenway rides. The county is very progressive in connecting communities and displaying the great outdoors it has to offer.

At the center of it all would have to be Monte Sano State that boast some excellent hiking and biking opportunities. From beginner family trails to trails that will test the most advance mountain biker, visitors will find something to suite their abilities. Along with rustic cabins with excellent overlooks, playgrounds, a beautiful lodge and many other great amenities just waiting to be enjoyed, and only minutes away from the bustle of downtown Hunstville.

Adjoining the Monte Sano trails you will find one of, if not the largest Land Trust trail systems in the state with miles of additional trails to enjoy.

Madison County Nature Trail

Description: 2.25 mile pedestrian trail located on Green Mountain . One half mile of the trail is designated a Braille/classroom trail. The trail meanders around and crosses portions of Sky Lake . Alabama’s largest and oldest Elm Tree can be found along the trail.

Huntsville Cross Country Running Park
