Tallapoosa County is home to a large portion of Lake Martin which offers outdoor types many opportunities. Along the South shores hikers will find 11 miles of hiker-only trails at Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail with an additional 5 1/2 miles located at Wind Creek State Park on the North side of the lake.

Equestrians are also provided for along the lake at Russell Crossroad’s trails just north of the Kowaligia Bridge with miles of open trails as well as more technical trails for the truly experienced riders. For a more close to the city experience, check out the 3 miles of rugged trails around the Charles Bailey Sportsplex in Alexander City.
