Just south of Birmingham, outdoor enthusiasts will find Oak Mountain, the largest State Park in Alabama, which contains extensive outdoor opportunities. With more than 25 miles of dedicated mountain bike trails, an extensive network of hiking trails, two lakes, paddle boats, cabins, camping, orienteering areas, golf course and more, Oak Mountain has it all. Equestrians will also find more than 10 miles of dedicated horse trails as well as a rental stable for all to enjoy a horse riding adventure through the park.

For something a little lower key, families may find the mile long lighted asphalt trail at Heardmont Farm Park more to their liking, located on Cahaba Valley Road about 4 miles from I-65.
